Assign responsibility at the physical interfaces
Use a responsibility matrix to identify who measures the site, checks setting-out, provides supports, makes penetrations and finishes the junctions. Include temporary protection and waste removal; these small items can delay an otherwise ready room.
Distinguish the party installing a component from the party accepting its performance. A ventilation contractor may connect equipment while another party performs the agreed room tests. The contract should state the deliverables and the handover sequence rather than relying on a general installation label.
During site work, maintain a record of approved changes. Moving a door or routing a service through a different panel can affect drawings, cleaning access and room operation. Close these changes before issuing the final handover information.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Setting-out | Name the party responsible for verified dimensions and reference levels. |
| Trade interfaces | Assign supports, seals, utilities and final connections. |
| Quality records | Agree inspections, drawing revisions and corrective-action ownership. |
| Handover | State who supplies each document and performs each agreed test. |
Is turnkey a sufficiently detailed scope?
No. It should be supported by a list of inclusions, exclusions and interface responsibilities. Two turnkey offers can cover different building and commissioning activities.
