Select usable internal dimensions, shelf fit, loading limits and electrical grade for the actual parts. An open bin does not provide a closed shielding enclosure.
Bin size, material grade and storage arrangement can be selected for your components.
An open-front component bin keeps frequently used parts visible and within reach. The lowered front opening supports picking from a shelf, while the side walls help separate one part number or assembly kit from the next.
Keep the next part visible and accessible
The lowered front lets operators pick from a bin without lifting a lid or removing the container from its shelf. Separate bins can organize part numbers, assembly kits or replenishment quantities. Place frequently used items where the opening is easy to reach, and keep identification visible at the picking face.
Usable capacity depends on the contents as well as the outer dimensions. Long parts may bridge across the opening, while small pieces can collect at the rear. Select the bin around the actual part shape and picking method, leaving enough space for a gloved hand or suitable tool.
Plan the shelf and the load together
| Storage decision | Practical consideration |
|---|---|
| Shelf depth | Support the bin base without making the front inaccessible. |
| Part quantity | Keep the load within the selected bin and shelf ratings. |
| Adjacent bins | Allow enough clearance to identify and remove one container. |
| Stacking | Use only a combination designed and rated for stacking. |
Open storage has a defined protection boundary
A suitable ESD material grade can form part of controlled component handling, but an open bin is not a closed shielding package. If parts leave the protected work area, select transport packaging for that exposure. Do not infer electrical performance from the black finish.
Clean out loose debris before changing the part number assigned to a bin. Check the floor of the container, front edge and ribbed exterior for damage that could retain dirt or snag packaging. Use the selected material's cleaning instructions so repeated cleaning does not undermine its intended properties.
