Review materials and connections together
Record the intended cleaning agents and exposure conditions before selecting the facing. Check whether the proposed material information applies to those conditions and whether the joint or seal needs separate compatibility review.
Panel thickness affects interfaces with doors, windows and transfer devices. Confirm these dimensions on the same drawing. Do not assume that two panels of equal thickness have equivalent fire, structural or moisture performance.
At receiving, compare identifiers, sizes and surface condition with the approved schedule. Store panels in a way that protects edges and finishes until installation. A damaged edge can affect the quality of the finished joint even when the main face looks acceptable.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Facing | Specify finish, cleaning compatibility and expected impact exposure. |
| Core | Request evidence relevant to the intended application and required performance. |
| Thickness | Coordinate frames, penetrations and connection profiles. |
| Edges and joints | Inspect closure details and protect them during handling. |
Does a panel material name establish a fire rating?
No. The applicable performance evidence must match the proposed construction and use. Review the complete tested or assessed assembly and local project requirements.
