Specify the task at the work surface
Record what sits on the table during the busiest part of the operation. Include fixtures, containers and temporary tools, then reserve room for the actual task. Equipment feet and concentrated loads require more information than a total weight alone.
Review the top, edges, underside and frame against the cleaning procedure. If a shelf, drawer or castor is proposed, consider whether it creates a difficult cleaning location or changes the working posture.
Position the table on the room plan with its operator space and service connections. Keep access to wall outlets and return openings visible. For mobile tables, define a normal parked position and confirm that the floor and route suit the chosen wheels.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Working surface | Define the task, equipment footprint and necessary clear work area. |
| Loads | Supply equipment weight and support-point information for review. |
| Construction | Check top, frame, edges and optional storage against cleaning needs. |
| Position | Allow operator movement, service access and equipment removal. |
Can a standard table load rating cover any machine?
A rating must be interpreted against how the load is applied. Ask about concentrated loads, equipment support points and any vibration or movement before placing a machine on the table.
