Define the use before the room
Identify the department, activity and applicable oversight at the start. Confirm whether the proposed room is for preparation, testing, research or another controlled task. A modular enclosure for one purpose should not be presented as an operating theatre or a universal clinical environment.
Map staff access, materials and waste according to the approved workflow. Coordinate equipment and service needs with the responsible hospital teams. Existing building circulation and maintenance arrangements may constrain where the room can be installed.
Keep the facility supply scope separate from clinical or pharmacy operating procedures. The project needs both, but they have different owners. Confirm the required acceptance activities before ordering the room package.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Intended activity | Name the department and the work performed in the room. |
| Workflow | Define staff, material and waste routes with the responsible team. |
| Building integration | Review circulation, services and maintenance access. |
| Acceptance | Agree the relevant project requirements and responsible parties. |
Is a hospital modular cleanroom the same as an operating theatre?
No. The intended use determines the design and applicable requirements. Do not substitute one room type for another based on a shared cleanroom description.
