For rock wool sandwich panels with PU edges, the purchasing detail that matters most is the joint section. The core description alone does not show where the polyurethane is used or how adjacent panels connect.
Ask for the section, not just the product label
PU edge sealing and a full polyurethane insulation core describe different constructions. In the edge-sealed format, the main insulating core remains rock wool while polyurethane is used at specified edge zones. Establish that material arrangement before comparing prices or ordering a sample.
A useful joint drawing shows the mating profiles, metal returns, sealing positions and fixing line. The amount and location of edge material must correspond to the selected product. Do not substitute a generic foam-filled joint detail for the actual supplied construction.
Compare suppliers on the interfaces that can stop installation
Joint compatibility
Confirm the usable module and how the first and last panels terminate. Matching nominal thickness does not guarantee that two profiles interlock.
Cut ends
Factory-formed longitudinal edges do not automatically protect site-cut ends. Specify closures at openings, corners and shortened panels.
Fixing arrangement
Check how screws transfer load into the support and whether the proposed trim leaves installation access. An attractive joint image cannot replace a fixing detail.
Performance evidence
Fire and load documentation must cover the edge-sealed assembly. Results for an all-mineral-wool version should not be carried across without evidence.
Use edge sealing as part of a wall system
The intended benefit is a controlled edge and connection arrangement. Weather resistance still depends on the assembled joint, end closures and installation quality. A factory edge treatment cannot correct an unsealed base or an incorrectly detailed window opening.
Before release, compare a sample section with the approved drawing and agree how bundles identify different lengths or special profiles. Include matching trims and seals in the supply scope so the site does not have to improvise them.
