Six denotes the treatment functions listed above, not six RO passes. UV duty is selected for the flow through its own circuit, which can differ from the RO production rate.

The six-function treatment package and its storage, UV and control arrangement can be customized to suit your application.

A 6 stage reverse osmosis water purification system can combine five feed-conditioning and membrane-treatment functions with a downstream disinfection function. For a commercial facility, the important distinction is where that final treatment sits in the water circuit and what happens when it is unavailable.

Salt reduction and disinfection need different controls

Reverse osmosis reduces dissolved material by membrane separation. UV acts on susceptible microorganisms as water passes through an illuminated, enclosed reactor. These are different duties: adding a UV unit does not improve the RO membrane's salt rejection, and a good conductivity reading does not prove acceptable microbiological quality.

For this arrangement, the first five functions prepare the feed and produce RO water. The sixth function is selected only when it serves the final application. Its required performance must be supported by the specified reactor and operating conditions rather than by lamp wattage or a stage-count label.

Place the final barrier where it protects the supply

A reactor installed immediately after RO treats water before storage. It cannot provide a lasting disinfectant residual inside the tank or prevent contamination introduced farther downstream. Where treatment is needed at delivery, the reactor is selected and positioned on that delivery line or within an appropriate recirculation arrangement.

A storage tank that helps with demand peaks can create a maintenance problem if it has unsuitable vents, stagnant branches or inaccessible surfaces. The tank, pipework and sampling locations should be considered together with the UV equipment. Adding another component does not compensate for a poorly maintained distribution system.

Use the correct flow for UV selection

A delivery pump may empty stored water much faster than the RO skid can refill it. Sizing the downstream UV unit only against membrane production could therefore leave it operating above its validated flow when users draw water together.

UV transmittance, lamp condition and sleeve fouling also affect treatment. A lamp-on indicator alone does not show the dose received by the water. Monitoring, alarms and the response to a fault should match the consequence of supplying inadequately treated water.

Coordinate the operating states

Starting production
The RO needs a suitable feed and a valid tank signal. The delivery system must also respect the downstream treatment's ready condition before treated water is released to the use point.
Servicing pretreatment
Backwashing and softener regeneration change the upstream water route. Production can be inhibited during the event while an appropriately designed storage arrangement maintains the approved supply.
Responding to a fault
A critical UV fault can call for isolation of the affected outlet, not merely a light on the panel. The receiving process and local operating procedure determine the required fail-safe behavior.
Returning after maintenance
Filter replacement, tank cleaning and work on the delivery pipework can affect the water after the membrane. Restoration should follow the agreed cleaning, flushing and quality-release procedure for the application.

Purchase the treatment circuit as a whole

For a quotation, identify the end use, product-water acceptance criteria, delivery peaks and whether the tank will feed one process or several. shengtongJH can coordinate the RO equipment, downstream components and agreed interfaces without treating a generic six-stage label as a complete specification.

If the missing requirement is lower ionic content rather than downstream disinfection, adding UV is not the answer. Compare the RO-and-polishing configuration, or return to the five-function pretreatment route when the final process already provides its own approved downstream treatment.

The six-function treatment package and its storage, UV and control arrangement can be customized to suit your application.
