Review the existing facility before selecting the upgrade
Collect the current layout, equipment information and available performance records. Compare them with the intended new process or capacity. A larger room or a different filter arrangement may not address the actual limitation.
Plan the work around ongoing operations. Identify temporary segregation, service interruptions and the final connection tasks. Review how construction personnel and materials will reach the area without creating unplanned conflicts.
Agree the scope of rechecking and document updates after the change. The modified facility must be reviewed as a combined arrangement. Retaining some original components does not remove the need to assess the effect of the upgrade.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Baseline | Record the existing configuration and known limitations. |
| Target | Define the new process, capacity and environmental requirements. |
| Changeover | Plan segregation, shutdowns and service connections. |
| Return to use | Update records and complete the agreed acceptance activities. |
Can an upgrade be specified from the new target class alone?
No. Review the existing system, process changes and site constraints. The work needed depends on the gap between the current installation and the complete new requirement.
