Coordinate the instruments and the room services
Place each instrument with its loading, operation and maintenance envelope. Identify sensitive connections and the route used to remove or replace the equipment. Include preparation benches and sample-transfer positions in the same layout.
Confirm which services are provided by the building and which are included in the room package. Shared exhaust, cooling or electrical capacity should be verified with facilities personnel rather than assumed to be available.
Define user access to controls and routine maintenance points. Keep the final equipment and room information together so that a future research change can be assessed against the installed arrangement.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Instrument envelope | Show loading and service space as well as the equipment outline. |
| Shared utilities | Confirm available connections and responsible parties. |
| Sample movement | Place preparation and transfer positions in the workflow. |
| Future review | Retain the installed interface information for later changes. |
How is this different from comparing laboratory room options?
This stage coordinates the selected room with actual instruments, utility points and installation responsibilities. It resolves interfaces that a procurement comparison may only identify as requirements.
