Make changeover part of the normal workflow
Translate the approved process mix into room positions and service requirements. Identify equipment that remains installed and equipment that changes between jobs. Reserve a route and staging position for the latter.
Define how the area is cleared and prepared between operations using the owner's procedures. Furniture, containers and temporary tooling should have designated positions so they do not accumulate around a critical task or block services.
Keep the configuration record linked to the job requirements. If a customer requests different equipment or environmental conditions, review the room and its interfaces before accepting the change. The physical flexibility of a modular enclosure does not establish compatibility between processes.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Job receipt | Define incoming material and equipment positions. |
| Installed equipment | Separate fixed services from changeable tooling. |
| Changeover | Plan clearance, cleaning and preparation activities. |
| Configuration record | Link the working arrangement to the approved job requirements. |
How does this differ from selecting a room for contract manufacturing?
Selection compares possible systems. This stage organizes an agreed room around actual job movement, equipment changes and operating responsibilities.
