Define the handover between design and manufacture
Provide the process brief, measured site information and equipment interfaces. Agree who develops the coordinated drawings and which party approves them. Keep approval of geometry distinct from approval of any performance requirement.
Before manufacturing release, review the component schedule, finishes, openings and hardware. Record unresolved items and whether they prevent release of a particular part. A partial release needs defined boundaries so that later decisions do not invalidate completed work.
During production and delivery, retain drawing revisions and identifiers. At handover, link the installed configuration to its operating and maintenance information. This creates a usable record for replacement parts and future modifications.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Requirements | Define process, environment, dimensions and site interfaces. |
| Approval | Name the parties reviewing drawings and performance requirements. |
| Release | Identify the approved revision and any restricted outstanding items. |
| Handover | Keep the installed configuration and its documents linked. |
Can manufacturing begin while every detail is still open?
Some packages may be released in stages, but only with clearly controlled boundaries. Unresolved dimensions, openings or interfaces can force rework if treated as assumptions.
