Plan the connection as a separate work package
Map how construction personnel and materials reach the new area without crossing the operating workflow unnecessarily. Review temporary boundaries and the impact of dusty or noisy work with the facility team.
Before opening the connection, confirm the new enclosure and services are ready for that stage. Decide what work can be completed independently and what requires a planned production interruption. Include the condition of the existing room in the changeover plan.
After connection, the combined arrangement may behave differently. Update drawings, access routes and operating instructions, then perform the agreed checks before returning to the intended use. Expansion is not complete merely because the new wall section has been installed.
Configuration decisions
| Decision | What to define |
|---|---|
| Construction route | Keep installation traffic distinct from normal production wherever practicable. |
| Temporary boundary | Define how existing operations are protected during work. |
| Connection window | Schedule tasks that require interruption as a coordinated package. |
| Restart | Update the combined room documentation and acceptance checks. |
Can an extension be installed with no production interruption?
That depends on the existing boundary, services and process. Assess the connection activities explicitly; do not infer uninterrupted operation from modular construction alone.
