An LED X-ray film viewer illuminates physical radiographic film. It is not a diagnostic monitor for digital image files. Before replacing an old light box, establish whether the facility still needs film viewing and what clinical viewing requirements apply.
The usable light area is the important size
Compare the illuminated area with the actual film formats and whether multiple films must be viewed together. The cabinet's overall width can include a substantial frame that contributes no viewing area. Film retention should hold the sheets securely without making removal awkward.
Brightness needs to be considered alongside uniformity and the surrounding room light. A bright centre with dim edges can make comparison difficult. Uncovered illuminated areas can also create distracting glare, so consider masking or independently controlled sections where the viewing task requires them.
Mount for the observer
Locate the viewer where staff can see it without reflections from windows or task lights. The intended viewing position determines the mounting height. A recessed unit needs space for its housing and service access; a surface unit projects further into the room and needs appropriate wall support.
Check access to the driver and replaceable components. A thin illuminated face does not guarantee that the entire assembly can be serviced from the front after it is built into a wall.
Do not buy a clinical claim from an appearance
HAEBERLE's film-viewer information identifies uniform illumination as a viewing characteristic. The responsible imaging team should define acceptance criteria for the intended use, including measurements and quality assurance; a photograph, LED label or wattage cannot establish diagnostic suitability.
Provide the film sizes, mounting location, preferred control arrangement and the facility's performance specification. Include cleaning compatibility and replacement-part access in the comparison.
