When a Softwall Cleanroom Fits the Process—and When It Does Not

A softwall cleanroom can provide a flexible filtered-air zone around a defined task, but the curtain enclosure should be selected with the surrounding factory in mind. Its open lower perimeter and flexible access make it different from a sealed room with controlled doorways.

Look outside the curtain first

The surrounding space supplies the conditions in which the enclosure operates. Nearby open loading doors, dusty traffic, temperature swings and competing ventilation can all matter. Identify the intended work height and the route by which air leaves the enclosure. Storing cartons against the curtain or pushing a machine into the outlet path can change that arrangement.

Terra Universal's softwall guidance identifies the limitations of its curtain systems where tight pressure, temperature or humidity control is required. That is a useful selection distinction, not a performance rating for an unspecified shengtongJH installation.

A practical fit assessment

Frequent large-item access
A curtain opening can simplify movement, but each entry disturbs the protected zone. Plan where unpacking occurs and how items enter without dragging contamination through the work area.
Changing production layouts
Modular frames may support relocation. Check the complete move: ceiling obstructions, power, frame stability and the need to repeat operating checks after repositioning.
Sensitive environmental limits
If the process depends on stable humidity, temperature or a defined pressure relationship, assess a rigid enclosure and dedicated conditioning instead of expecting flexible strips to perform as a sealed wall.

Choose access details that operators will use

Strip overlap, access width and the position of worktables affect daily behaviour. If an awkward entrance encourages operators to tie curtains back, the real installation will differ from the proposed airflow arrangement. Provide enough space to transfer materials and avoid using the curtain line as a storage boundary.

For cleaning, consider both faces of the curtain, the suspension track and the lower edge. Select material compatibility for the actual cleaning method. A damaged or stiffened curtain should be replaceable without dismantling the entire frame, and replacement strips should retain the intended dimensions and arrangement.

Review softwall modular cleanroom options with the workstation layout and surrounding-room conditions. shengtongJH can adapt the equipment package and access arrangement to that duty. Describe the task, traffic and environmental limits so the enclosure choice can be assessed before ordering.
