A smoke-exhaust fire damper must perform the states required by the building's approved fire and smoke strategy. It should not be selected as a generic on/off ventilation damper or assumed to behave like every other fire-protection device.
Identify the required states
Document normal operation, a smoke-control command, the relevant thermal response, loss of control power and the required reset. The responsible fire and controls designers should define these states. The equipment supplier then provides a compatible assembly and actuator rather than inventing the strategy from a product name.
Identify any interlock with the exhaust fan and how the system confirms the required damper position. A command sent by a controller and a verified physical position are different signals.
Match evidence to the actual duty
State the applicable temperature, leakage, pressure, orientation and installation requirements through the approved specification. General fire-damper evidence and smoke-control evidence are not interchangeable. Do not transfer a classification from a similar-looking blade arrangement.
AMCA's life-safety damper discussion distinguishes fire, smoke and combined duties. Match the specified product to the destination's fire and smoke-control strategy; a Chinese catalogue designation should not be treated as automatic equivalence to a particular overseas classification.
Provide a realistic test and service route
Leave access to the actuator, thermal device and blade assembly. Record the location, circuit identity and control sequence so functional checks can be performed without guessing which device serves which zone.
At handover, verify the integrated sequence through the project's approved commissioning process, including relevant fault conditions. Subsequent actuator replacement or control changes should be reviewed against that sequence and the product's evidence.
shengtongJH can coordinate smoke-exhaust fire-damper supply to the approved design. Send the damper schedule, operating sequence and documentation requirements so the selected configuration has a clear role in the system.
