Industrial Refrigerant Dehumidifiers: Compare Capacity at the Room's Real Conditions

A refrigerant dehumidifier cools air below its dew point to condense moisture, then normally reheats that air across the refrigerant circuit's warm side. Its extraction rate changes with entering temperature and humidity. A daily-capacity figure measured in warm, humid air may substantially overstate performance in a cooler room.

Put quotations on the same test condition

Ask for capacity at the intended room conditions and the target range, not only the maximum catalogue value. At lower temperatures, frosting and defrost operation can affect effective water removal. Very dry or cold duties may require consideration of another dehumidification method.

Include the moisture entering through ventilation, doors and leaks, along with wet processes or stored materials. A room-volume recommendation cannot account for a frequently opened loading door or a continuous wet operation.

Where do the heat and water go?

A room-mounted condensing unit generally adds heat to the treated space through its electrical input and the dehumidification process. That can be helpful in some drying tasks and problematic in a temperature-controlled production area. Coordinate it with the cooling system.

Condensate requires a reliable drain or suitable pump arrangement. Check drain falls, access for cleaning and what happens if drainage fails. A full tank that stops the machine can leave the process without humidity control.

Investigate a decline before replacing the machine

A dirty filter or coil, blocked airflow, changed room conditions or new moisture source can reduce useful performance. Refrigerant faults need diagnosis by an appropriately qualified technician; a low reading on a humidity display does not identify a refrigerant problem.

Dantherm's industrial dehumidifier data lists extraction and heat recovery at stated conditions. The useful comparison is equivalent data for the offered unit at the intended room conditions, rather than a headline capacity from a different application.
