A replacement heat-exchanger plate must match the installed pack's mechanical and flow arrangement. Two plates with the same outside dimensions can have different corrugations, port details or gasket grooves and should not be assumed interchangeable.
Identify the original assembly
Start with the exchanger nameplate, model and serial information, plate schedule and original drawing. Record the plate material, thickness and pattern. Photographs can help identify features, but should support rather than replace dimensional and documentary matching.
Port openings and gasket arrangements determine which circuit enters each channel. End plates, turning plates and ordinary channel plates may differ. Ordering a count of visually similar plates without their position in the pack can create an incorrect flow arrangement.
Inspect why the old plate failed
Corrosion, deformation, cracking or damage around a gasket groove have different causes. Replacing the part without resolving chemical incompatibility, pressure events or incorrect assembly can repeat the problem.
Alfa Laval's troubleshooting guidance distinguishes external leakage, internal leakage and pressure-drop problems. The diagnosis should guide replacement rather than using a new gasket or plate as a universal remedy.
Preserve the pack design
Confirm the plate sequence, orientation, gasket type and approved tightening dimension. Changing the quantity or pattern alters flow distribution and thermal duty and needs an appropriate recalculation.
Assembly and testing should follow the equipment manufacturer's procedures. The responsible maintenance team should establish the post-repair leak and performance checks required before returning the unit to service.
For an enquiry, provide the nameplate, drawings, clear images of both sides of a removed plate and the known material specification. Identify whether gaskets are included and whether the requirement is like-for-like replacement or a proposed duty change.
shengtongJH can coordinate replacement sourcing against confirmed identification. Send the plate and exchanger records to establish compatibility before ordering.
