An operating room power panel is an interface to the electrical installation. Adding more sockets does not increase the available circuit capacity or create a protected medical supply. The electrical designer must define the supply arrangement before the panel is ordered.
Begin with the equipment schedule
List the devices, their connection requirements and where they will operate. Simultaneous use, starting characteristics and continuity requirements affect circuit allocation. Several outlets supplied by the same circuit should not be mistaken for independent sources.
Identify normal and any essential or protected supplies according to the facility's design. Labels should communicate the actual source and circuit, using the site's conventions. A coloured socket or faceplate alone does not prove that backup power is connected.
Make the interface accessible
Allow room for actual plugs, not just the socket centres on a drawing. Bulky connectors can obstruct adjacent outlets. The position should avoid unnecessary cable crossings and exposure to cleaning liquids while remaining accessible to staff.
For recessed construction, coordinate the back box, cable entry, wall support and access. Earthing, bonding, protective devices and segregation of different services belong to the electrical design and installation; they cannot be inferred from a stainless front panel.
Specify evidence at the correct level
NHS HTM 06-01 addresses fixed wiring and integral electrical equipment in healthcare premises. It demonstrates the need to coordinate product selection with the wider installation. It is a UK reference, while the destination's applicable requirements govern the project.
Ask for documentation on the supplied assembly and components, then define installation testing and handover by the responsible qualified team. Do not accept a component certificate as proof that the entire room installation meets its requirements.
A comparison enquiry should include the approved circuit and socket schedule, local socket standard, mounting detail and desired identification. Future capacity should be allowed through the system design rather than by leaving unconnected outlets that appear usable.
Send the approved electrical schedule to shengtongJH for panel configuration and sourcing coordination.
