Specify Modular Cleanroom Walls Around Their Openings and Junctions

A modular wall is an assembly of panels, joints, openings and support details. The difficult purchasing decisions usually occur where the uninterrupted panel ends. A door, pass box or service penetration needs a deliberate interface with the wall rather than a field-cut hole covered by trim.

Draw a wall elevation before counting panels

Show the finished floor level, ceiling junction, door openings, glazing and equipment connections on each elevation. Put dimensions to a common reference. If the door supplier works from a structural opening while the panel supplier works from finished clear dimensions, apparently matching quotations can still produce incompatible components.

Place removable panels where future equipment access is realistic. Removing a panel that carries services or supports shelving is a different operation from releasing an unobstructed infill. Keep structural loads on the intended framing and provide a documented means to restore seals after alterations.

Three junctions with different jobs

  • Panel-to-panel: the connection locates the faces and provides a defined sealing path. Joint geometry and sealant compatibility must work together.
  • Wall-to-floor: the detail must accommodate the actual floor finish and cleaning method. Covering an uneven gap with a cove does not by itself create a continuous seal.
  • Equipment-to-wall: frame reinforcement, removable trims and service access should suit the equipment's weight and maintenance route.

The Gilcrest cleanroom systems range illustrates why walls, doors, glazing and junction components are coordinated as a system. Its specific approvals apply to its own assemblies, not to every panel using a similar appearance.

Think through a future repair

A damaged face near trolley traffic may need replacement while adjacent production remains active. Ask how a panel is released, what must be disturbed and whether matching trims remain obtainable. Protective rails can take repeated impact away from the finish, but their fixings must connect to suitable support rather than relying on thin sheet alone.

Compare offers using a junction schedule as well as square metres. Include edge closures, corners, openings, reinforcement and the responsibility for final sealing. This reveals whether an apparently lower price simply omits the interfaces that complete the room.

For modular cleanroom walls, shengtongJH can coordinate panel and accessory choices around the application. Send wall elevations and the equipment-opening schedule to discuss compatible construction.
