A fire damper's suitability depends on the assembly and installation covered by its evidence. A nominal size and temperature device are not a complete specification. The supporting wall or floor, orientation, duct arrangement and closure duty must be addressed together.
Start with the barrier being penetrated
The project fire design should identify the required protection at the opening. Select a damper whose documented installation applies to that construction and orientation. A detail intended for one wall type should not be copied into another without the appropriate approval.
Determine whether the selected product is suitable for the system's airflow condition at closure. The required duty must align with the fire strategy and fan operation, not be guessed from a photograph of the blades.
Keep the installation components together
Sleeves, retaining details, clearances and duct connections may be part of the approved installation. An installer should follow the applicable instructions rather than making the assembly rigid or sealing gaps indiscriminately. Changes can interfere with the intended behaviour.

Make inspection and reset reachable
Provide access to the release mechanism, blades and any actuator as required by the selected design. The access opening should remain usable after insulation, ceilings and other services are installed. Record the damper's location and identity in the facility documentation.
Agree commissioning and ongoing inspection responsibilities with the project team. A hidden component is not maintenance-free simply because it is intended to operate only during an abnormal event. Replacements should preserve the approved construction and control function.
