A dunnage rack lifts stored containers above the floor on a low supporting platform. Its low profile can simplify access to bulky materials, but the load must be compatible with the deck and supporting frame.
Distributed weight and concentrated weight are different
A broad box resting across several members loads the rack differently from a heavy vessel standing on small feet. Ask how the quoted capacity is defined and identify the actual points of contact. Do not apply a uniformly distributed rating to a concentrated load without confirmation.
Include the weight of containers and their maximum contents. If items are placed with handling equipment, the loading method and possible impact also matter. A rack for static storage is not automatically designed as a pallet-truck crossing or work platform.
The floor completes the support
Check flatness, drainage falls and the pressure transmitted through the feet. A strong rack can rock on an uneven floor, and small feet may damage a vulnerable finish. Any levelling arrangement should preserve stable support under the intended load.
Choose the deck spacing for the smallest container base. Wide gaps may be easy to clean but leave narrow packages poorly supported.
Use the clearance deliberately
Space below the deck should allow the planned cleaning method and inspection. Avoid positioning the rack so close to walls that debris becomes inaccessible. Stainless steel can suit wet environments when the grade, finish and cleaning process are compatible.
The BSSA care and maintenance guide explains that stainless still needs appropriate cleaning. Persistent deposits should not be accepted simply because the rack is made of metal.
Provide the container footprint, maximum loaded weight and loading method with the requested rack size. shengtongJH can coordinate deck, frame and floor-clearance options against that duty. Send the load arrangement for a useful comparison.
