Door Frame Profiles: Specify the Hardware Interfaces Before Cutting Lengths

A door frame profile connects the leaf, wall and hardware. Ordering by outer width and colour alone leaves the working interfaces undefined. The rebate, seal groove, hinge fixing and strike position must suit the selected door assembly.

Use the leaf as a reference

Record leaf thickness, opening direction, intended clearances and the closing arrangement. Confirm how the frame accommodates the wall build-up and finished floor. An adjustable wall cover can simplify one interface without solving an incompatible leaf rebate.

Show the hinge and closer loads in the hardware schedule. Thin extrusion walls may require reinforcement or a designed fixing arrangement. Do not assume that a screw placed anywhere along a hollow profile has the same capacity as a specified reinforced location.

Check the complete corner

Mitres and corner connectors control alignment. A frame assembled slightly out of square can create uneven seal contact and latch problems. Define fabrication tolerances, connector details and the installation sequence before cutting a large batch.

Hydro identifies joining, tolerances, finish and structural calculations as distinct aluminium design topics. For a door-frame order, that means a profile drawing should be accompanied by the intended connections and hardware interfaces, not treated as a complete door design.

Retain the seal identity

The groove and gasket form a matched interface. Substituting a visually similar seal can change compression and operating force. Include the seal reference and replacement method, particularly where cleaning chemicals or repeated cycles influence wear.

If fire, smoke, airtightness or escape performance is required, the profile must remain within the selected complete assembly and its evidence. An extrusion cannot independently confer those functions on a door.

For door frame profile options, shengtongJH can coordinate sections, connectors and seal provisions to the application. Provide the leaf, wall section and hardware schedule before finalising the cut-length order.
