A cove profile changes the shape of a junction; the installation behind it determines whether that junction is properly closed. A curved aluminium cover can make wiping easier, but it should not conceal an uncontrolled gap between wall and floor.
Follow the cleaning path
Imagine a cloth or cleaning tool moving from the wall onto the floor. Raised edges, exposed fasteners and poorly fitted corner pieces interrupt that movement. Choose the profile and its accessories as a continuous system, including internal corners, external corners, end caps and transitions at doors.
The floor finish and wall face should be known before the profile is selected. A cove installed over an irregular base may need a suitable backing or adjustment detail. Forcing the profile to follow every defect can create uneven edges and pockets behind it.
Separate fixing from sealing
Fixings or clips retain the profile; a compatible seal closes the intended boundary. One function does not automatically perform the other. Determine whether the profile is removable for inspection, permanently bonded or mechanically retained, and how the chosen arrangement is maintained.

Order the awkward pieces early
Long straight runs are usually simple to count. The difficult pieces occur around door frames, columns, equipment plinths and changes in floor level. Include these on a junction schedule, with the intended termination and exposed edge treatment. Improvised mitres can leave sharp points or small crevices even when the straight profile looks correct.
Specify the aluminium finish and cleaning chemicals together. If sealant is used, include its compatibility, application conditions and replacement method. No profile shape makes every cleaner suitable.
