A PVC floor mat is selected for a local working surface, walkway or protective layer. Solid runners, ribbed surfaces and open-mesh constructions solve different problems. Start with what happens at that position: liquid exposure, debris, standing work, trolley movement or surface protection.
Choose where liquid and debris will go
A solid mat keeps material on its upper surface until it is removed. An open construction can let liquid and small debris pass below, so the underlying floor and cleaning access become part of the arrangement. Drainage through a mat does not remove the need to manage what collects underneath.

Review the edges and traffic before the roll size
Check the mat's total profile height, edge treatment and relationship with doors and surrounding flooring. A raised edge or a moving mat can disrupt a route even when the central surface suits the task. Include transitions and fixing or retention arrangements in the order where the application requires them.
For trolleys, consider wheel diameter, width, load and turning movements. A mesh opening that suits one wheel may not suit another. Evaluate the selected profile under representative use rather than relying on a general statement about industrial duty.
Arrange cleaning and replacement as routine work
Choose a manageable section size if the mat must be lifted or rolled for cleaning. Define where it is cleaned and dried, how the underlying floor is inspected and how it is returned to the correct position. Heavy or awkward sections can make an otherwise sensible cleaning plan difficult to carry out.
Confirm compatibility with the actual chemicals and temperature conditions. Ordinary PVC matting is not automatically an ESD control product, an electrical insulating mat or a tacky particle-removal mat. Each of those functions requires its own selected construction and supporting evidence.
