Dry heat sterilizer pouches are part of the processing and handling system. A pouch must tolerate the intended cycle, maintain its closure and allow the packed item to be presented appropriately after processing. A pouch labelled for a different sterilization method should not be substituted simply because the instrument fits.
Compatibility includes the seam and indicator
Check the manufacturer's instructions for the complete pouch: paper or film, adhesive or heat seal, printing and process indicator. A temperature statement about one material does not establish the behaviour of the assembled pack. BOENMED's dry heat pouch information identifies a dedicated kraft-paper construction; it should not be generalized to all paper-and-plastic sterilization pouches.
Size selection needs room for the item, the specified closure and opening. Stretching a pouch around a bulky instrument loads the seams; excessive spare material can complicate loading and presentation. Evaluate the packaged shape, including projections, rather than the instrument's flat outline alone. Any protective accessory must also be compatible with the chosen process.
What does the colour change tell you?
A process indicator provides information about exposure to its specified conditions. It does not prove that the entire load is sterile. The CDC's monitoring guidance treats chemical indicators as one component of process monitoring, alongside the applicable physical and biological controls. Match the indicator to dry heat and to the approved procedure.
Assess the pack after processing and handling
Qualification should cover the real item, pack orientation, loading pattern and handling route. Inspect for seal separation, tears or damage after cooling, then follow the facility's release and storage procedure. A good chamber record cannot restore a damaged barrier. Replacing one pouch size or closure design with another can therefore require more than a purchasing substitution.
For dry heat sterilizer pouches, provide shengtongjh with the item dimensions, approved cycle, closure preference and documentation needs. The packaging inquiry can then address the complete pack instead of a nominal bag size alone.
