Size numbers identify glove sizes, not millimetres. Final fit and dimensions follow the selected black-glove construction.
Black-glove construction, contact finish, size mix and packing can be customized to the task and agreed acceptance requirements.
Black ESD gloves combine a dark appearance with a construction intended for static-sensitive handling. Colour can help organise a workstation, but the conductive material and finished contact face still need their own assessment.
Use colour for identification, not electrical approval
A dark glove can distinguish a handling stage or team when the site's issue system uses colour consistently. It may also provide useful visual contrast against a light-coloured housing. Those are organisational and visibility choices. They do not establish how the glove dissipates charge.
Some black gloves use conductive fibres or other functional materials, while others are simply black versions of ordinary work gloves. Specify the actual liner and working surface. Approval should cover the selected variant, rather than assuming that every glove of the same colour behaves alike.
Keep the useful contrast
Trial the glove under the workstation's lighting with the actual part. Light components may be easier to distinguish against a dark palm, but dark connectors or small black screws may be less visible. A product photograph cannot answer this handling question.
Choose fingertip or palm coverage around the normal grip. The hand should be able to release a small component without catching it in loose fabric or needing an unusually firm squeeze.
Keep contamination checks meaningful
Black material can make some marks less obvious. A glove that still looks tidy can carry residue from a tray, oily housing or outer package. Colour should not extend the use period beyond the process's replacement rule.
Inspect contact areas and any required surface transfer behaviour. Where a visible mark is an important trigger for changing gloves, consider whether a lighter construction would make that trigger easier for operators to recognise.
Do not make a colour change an uncontrolled substitution
If production moves from a grey glove to a black one, compare the new construction as well as the appearance. The coating, yarn blend, fit and care instructions may differ. Even when both products carry an ESD description, the available evidence should identify the particular glove being ordered.
Set the acceptance work around the task: grip on the housing, fit at the fingers, residue transfer where relevant, and electrical evaluation under the site's procedure. If the operation has a cleanliness requirement, assess that separately instead of inferring low lint or low extractables from the dark colour.
Issue and replace by an identifiable variant
Store sizes separately and retain the pack identity. When a glove is replaced, issue the same approved variant or a reviewed alternative. Mixed loose pairs make it difficult to distinguish a normal reorder from a change in material or coating.
Reusable black knit gloves require the selected product's care procedure. Washing is not a universal reset for electrical or surface properties. Worn fingertips, damaged coating and contamination that cannot be removed by the approved process should trigger replacement.
For single-use films rather than reusable black knit, compare disposable ESD gloves. For a sourcing request, state the required black appearance alongside the handling task and electrical evidence; the colour should remain one field in the specification, not its whole definition.
