Reversing width and height preserves opening area but may change fit, blade direction and service access. Confirm the installation orientation.
Frame overlap, access edge, finish and rear connection can be customized to the horizontal return arrangement.
A 25x20 return air grille uses a landscape nominal opening. The width-first order is useful when coordinating a horizontal wall bay, equipment casing or return plenum with limited height.
Treat width and height as installation instructions
Two rectangular grilles can have equal opening area and still require different installation details. The blade direction, hinge edge and fastener locations may be tied to the intended orientation. Include a simple front-view drawing with width and height identified so a landscape opening is not supplied with a face intended to be turned on site.
This is especially useful in an equipment casing or wall bay where the height is fixed. The outer flange needs clearance from surrounding panels, while the rear neck must enter the opening without contacting internal brackets.
Make use of the broad face
A wide return box can distribute the approach to the face if the branch connection and internal space are arranged sensibly. Avoid placing a solid obstruction immediately behind one side of the grille. It can reduce the useful area and concentrate the return flow through the remaining passages.
Choose the access edge
If the face opens for service, consider whether a side or lower edge gives the technician a better working position. The choice should suit nearby doors, cable trays and the location of any filter, rather than being selected only for symmetry.
Document the complete face assembly
Specify the material and finish, but also the border, opening and method of release. For a filtered version, record the holder depth and actual replacement-panel dimensions separately. shengtongJH can source the assembly to this schedule so the visible grille and the service parts behind it remain compatible. Equal area alone is not a basis for substituting a different orientation or frame.
Frame overlap, access edge, finish and rear connection can be customized to the horizontal return arrangement.
