The opposite width-height order has equal nominal area but can have different installation and access requirements. Confirm orientation on the drawing.
Frame, access edge, rear connection and coating can be customized to the tall wall bay and service position.
A 14x30 return air grille uses a tall narrow opening for a wall bay or vertical return arrangement. Its proportions make the position of the rear connection and the method of opening the face particularly important.
Keep the vertical return route usable
A narrow wall bay can offer enough total area for a return face while leaving limited room for a rear duct or filter. Check the depth behind the opening and the location of structural framing. A grille should not be fixed over a void that is largely blocked by a stud, pipe or equipment enclosure.
Also consider the operating room layout. Tall faces placed near shelving may have their lower portion covered over time. Position the return where its full opening can remain clear during normal work.
Blade direction
Choose the louvre sightline for the normal viewing position. Record it separately from the tall frame orientation so the assembly is not simply rotated to resolve an appearance issue after delivery.
Core removal
Allow a clear path to lift or swing the long face. A nearby door or wall return can obstruct that movement even when there is enough room for the grille to sit flat.
Filter service
If the assembly contains a filter, verify that the panel can be withdrawn through the opening and held during replacement. Do not infer its actual size from the nominal grille label.
Coordinate the return box
A connection entering near one end of a narrow box needs enough space for the air path to develop across the face. Review the box and branch together with the selected grille. A taller opening can solve a width constraint, but it does not remove the need for sensible rear geometry and an adequate fan pressure allowance.
