The size describes each die-cut piece, not roll width or diameter. Material-property figures below are published typical data and are not acceptance specifications.
Die-cut geometry and roll presentation can be specified for your application.
This double-sided tissue tape uses an acrylic adhesive on both sides of a tissue carrier. The die-cut roll format provides repeated adhesive pieces for controlled placement on parts, labels and small assembly interfaces.
Repeated adhesive pieces for controlled placement
The die-cut format presents separate rectangular pieces on a release liner. It reduces the need to cut each piece at the workstation and gives operators a repeatable shape to position on a component. Select the piece geometry around the bonded area, edge clearance and liner-removal sequence.
The construction consists of acrylic adhesive, a tissue carrier, acrylic adhesive and a removable blue liner. The carrier supports the adhesive during handling; the liner protects the exposed side until assembly. It is removed before the second surface is joined and is not part of the finished bond.
Published material properties
The following figures are typical published material data, not acceptance limits or a guarantee for every substrate and assembly. The listed adhesive assembly thickness excludes the release liner.
| Property | Published value | Method or condition |
|---|---|---|
| Adhesive assembly thickness | 140 ± 5 µm | ASTM D3652 |
| 180° peel on stainless steel | 9.6 N/cm | 20-minute dwell; ASTM D3330 |
| Static shear holding time | 10,000 minutes | Room temperature, 1 kg, 24 × 24 mm area; ASTM D3654 |
| Rolling-ball tack | No. 20 | ASTM D3121 |
| Listed temperature range | −40 to 80°C | Verify duration, load and substrate for the application |
| Appearance | Semi-transparent adhesive tape | Visual description |
| Release liner | Blue printed release paper | Removed during assembly |
Peel adhesion depends on the bonded surface
A separate published substrate comparison gives the values below. Its stainless-steel result differs from the general property figure above; these are separate reported data sets and should not be treated as one guaranteed specification.
| Substrate | 20-minute dwell, N/cm | 72-hour dwell, N/cm |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel (SUS) | 10.3 | 10.5 |
| Aluminum | 8.1 | 8.7 |
| Glass | 9.3 | 9.7 |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | 9.9 | 9.6 |
| ABS | 8.2 | 9.6 |
| PET | 9.3 | 9.6 |
| PMMA | 9.5 | 9.6 |
| Polystyrene (PS) | 9.8 | 9.9 |
| PVC | 10.3 | 10.4 |
| Polyethylene (PE) | 5.5 | 5.8 |
| Polypropylene (PP) | 6.6 | 7.0 |
Published comparison conditions: 24 mm-wide test strip reinforced with 25 µm PET; 2 kg roller applied back and forth twice at 600 mm/min; 180° peel at 300 mm/min after the stated dwell; 23 ± 1°C and 50 ± 5% relative humidity; ASTM D3330. The test strip width is different from the supplied die-cut piece size.
Build the bond around the real surface and load
Prepare clean, dry surfaces using a method compatible with the parts. Position the adhesive without touching the working faces, apply uniform pressure, and allow the assembly's qualified dwell before loading. Pressure-sensitive adhesive needs contact with the surface; a rough texture, contamination or a small effective contact area can reduce the bond.
Peel, sustained shear and impact are different loads. Validate the actual die-cut area, mating materials and service conditions, especially for curved parts or low-surface-energy plastics. 3M's electronics bonding guidance discusses why surface and assembly requirements affect adhesive selection.
Keep unused rolls in their original packaging. Published storage guidance is 21 ± 2°C and 50 ± 5% relative humidity, with a shelf life of 12 months from shipment. Protect the liner from damage and keep the lot identification available for material control.
