Cold storage wall panels separate a temperature-controlled room from its surroundings. Their most demanding locations are often the lower wall, loading route and door perimeter, where insulation, moisture control and physical protection meet.
Design the lower wall for the way the room is used
Wash water, pallet impact and repeated trolley contact concentrate at the wall base. A suitable base detail closes the insulation and supports a continuous seal. A kerb or stand-off guard can take traffic impact without transferring each collision into the panel skin.
Do not rely on a cosmetic skirting strip to repair a poorly sealed floor junction. Agree the connection between the wall, floor insulation and floor finish before either trade closes its work. Cleaning water should not have a concealed route into the panel edge.
Doors and large openings
Locate panel joints so the door frame has a suitable support arrangement. Door operation applies different forces from the pressure on a plain wall. Keep the frame seal accessible and avoid making the door installer cut through a completed panel joint without a coordinated detail.
Pipework and services
Use planned openings and compatible sleeves or closures. Pipe movement and maintenance access should not tear the seal or expose the core. Support heavy services independently instead of hanging them from thin wall facings.
Choose the face for its exposure
Coated steel suits many storage areas. Stainless steel may be appropriate where cleaning or moisture exposure justifies it, but material choice must still consider the detergent, concentration and contact time. Smooth faces simplify wiping; the joints and trims remain part of the cleaning surface.
For long walls, review support spacing, temperature differences between faces and the permitted movement at fixings. A stiff-looking panel is not evidence that it can span any distance. Keep the selected panel's structural information connected to the actual support arrangement.
shengtongJH can configure wall lengths, finishes and perimeter accessories around the traffic, cleaning and temperature zones of the facility.
