Add a compact linear light source where a broad panel would conflict with ceiling equipment or the shape of the working area.
Fit light between the other ceiling services
A slim linear fixture can follow a workbench, corridor or ceiling run without occupying the area of a broad panel light. This makes it useful where air terminals, access panels and process services already compete for ceiling space.
Plan the light direction around the task. A row directly behind the operator can cast a shadow over the work. Two thoughtfully positioned runs may provide better visibility than one brighter fitting, particularly around tall instruments or reflective metal surfaces.
Compare useful light, glare and controls
Power consumption describes the electrical input, not the illumination delivered to the work surface. The diffuser, mounting height and spacing influence the result. Where staff read labels or inspect small parts, agree the required illumination and colour-rendering characteristics for that task.
Dimming can make the installation more adaptable, but the driver and control system must be compatible. Mixed control types can lead to inconsistent behaviour. Keep a record of the selected driver and light-source assembly so that future replacements match the installation.
Choose a serviceable assembly
Allow access to the electrical connection and driver. A small fitting should not create a large repair job because its components are inaccessible behind a permanently sealed ceiling. The fixture's surface, joints and fixing clips should suit the room's cleaning procedure.
For continuous rows, coordinate the connectors and maximum circuit arrangement rather than treating each fitting as an independent plug-in item. Length, output, mounting and control options can be customized for the work area and its ceiling constraints.
