Select one matched cabinet configuration. Working space, outside size and service clearance are different; final dimensions and electrical loads follow the approved equipment schedule.

Work-zone dimensions, cleanable surfaces, lighting and service interfaces can be customized for an approved nonhazardous procedure.

A bio clean bench can support approved nonhazardous preparation where the material needs protection from airborne particles. The biological nature of a task does not by itself make an ordinary clean bench the correct enclosure.

Decide whose protection the procedure needs

A clean bench directs filtered air over the work to protect the product. It does not provide the containment required for potentially infectious materials or hazardous biological aerosols. Unknown cultures, clinical specimens and operations with a personnel-exposure risk need a suitable risk assessment and the appropriate containment equipment.

As Thermo Fisher's clean-bench guidance explains, horizontal and vertical clean benches are different from biological safety cabinets. A vertical air pattern or glass front does not turn one into the other.

For suitable nonhazardous work, reduce handling contamination

Approved plant preparation or handling of clean nonhazardous materials may benefit from local filtered air. The workstation still depends on prepared tools, suitable containers and a defined handling sequence. Air filtration cannot remove contamination already present on an item or introduced by contact.

Keep incoming supplies separate from the active preparation area and completed work. Avoid overcrowding the surface with containers. A small number of necessary items is easier to position, clean around and remove without reaching across exposed material.

Select surfaces around the cleaning method

Stainless steel worktops provide a practical wipeable surface, but the screen, seals, coatings and fittings also contact cleaning agents. Specify the actual cleaning chemistry and conditions so material compatibility can be reviewed.

Seams and removable trays should allow routine access without becoming places where residues accumulate. A surface that looks smooth may still be difficult to clean around a permanently attached fixture.

Keep lighting and accessories purposeful

Choose illumination that makes the work visible without placing large obstructions above it. Tubing, electrical outlets and holders should support the procedure without occupying the clean-air route.

Optional UV equipment has exposure risks and limitations caused by shadows and surface conditions. It is not a substitute for the prescribed cleaning process, and no sterility assurance is implied by fitting a lamp.

Retain a clear equipment record

Define permitted work, cleaning responsibilities and the relevant commissioning checks. Keep the filter identity and service history so a later replacement can be matched correctly. Review affected performance after relocation or a change to the equipment loaded into the cabinet.

If the procedure requires biological containment, use the biological safety cabinet category to discuss the correct equipment class and application. shengtongJH can coordinate sourcing around the approved requirement; it does not treat the term bio as proof that a standard clean bench is safe for every biological task.

Work-zone dimensions, cleanable surfaces, lighting and service interfaces can be customized for an approved nonhazardous procedure.
