Confirm the dimension order, bore, outside dimensions, covered length and core interfaces on an approved drawing. Material data depend on grade and conditioning.
Sponge dimensions, core arrangement and material grade can be customized for the process.
The long PVA roller provides a continuous water-absorbent sleeve across a wider process path. Uniform hydration and mechanical alignment are both needed before evaluating its working contact.
Soften the whole span before startup
A long sleeve may not condition evenly if only part of it is immersed or wetted. Follow the approved soaking procedure and check the entire length for remaining hard areas before applying load. Avoid turning a partly dry roller against the workpiece.
Balance contact and liquid renewal
Confirm the support spacing, core straightness and contact setting across the full width. Compare edge and center behavior during a representative run. A wet stripe can arise from alignment or renewal problems as well as local sponge damage.
Plan for controlled drainage, cleaning and shutdown storage. Keep the hydrated surface protected from particulate contamination and inspect for permanent deformation or separation from the core.
Specify covered span, overall length, core dimensions and conditioned acceptance criteria together. This helps a replacement roller fit the machine and behave consistently within the established wet-process cycle.
Material data
| Tensile strength | 420 kPa |
|---|---|
| Elongation | 250% |
| Porosity | 90% |
| Water-retention value | 1100%; test basis unspecified |
| Average pore diameter | 150 µm |

These material-level values support grade comparison; they are not guaranteed finished-roller test results. Confirm the test method, conditioning and allowable operating conditions for the selected grade. Chemical compatibility must be assessed for the actual fluid, concentration and temperature.
